CoD: WaW Review
Gameplay – Rating: 9.2 / 10
The game itself has a great storyline and game engine. It's very intuitive, and makes great use of the Wii-Mote. You're playing in World War 2, under the Marines, placed in Japan and going after the Nazis. During the game, you get a great gun selection, basically migrating all of CoD 4's guns into older, more antique versions of them. The maps you play on are quite excellent as well, adding to the overall excitement of the game. You'll find soldiers hiding in trees and grass, just waiting to get the jump on you. If you've played CoD for any of the other systems, just expect that, with a bit more interesting controls.
However, with a lack of Nazi Zombies, one of the most loved features of the game, this game is missing a pretty vital factor. Also, the gore isn't as intensive as on the other systems, although with a Wii, you shouldn't be expecting it.
Graphics and Sound – Rating: 8.7 / 10
Thus far, for the Wii, it's one of the best looking FPS games we've seen. It's closest contender would probably have to be Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, as it was an excellent game. The characters are all well built, and definitely give you a great sense of being in the army. Sound is working just as well. You can hear anything and everything you need to on this game, while it still isn't diluted.
Length / Replay Value – Rating: 8.9 / 10
It's not really that long of a game, you'll probably only end up spending 7 or 8 hours total on it, but while you are playing, you'll enjoy every minute of it. As a matter of fact, you'll have so much fun, you'll probably end up picking it back up and playing through it a couple more times. If you usually start on a lower difficulty, you'll probably want to play through again on the harder ones, because it adds a much needed edge to the gameplay.
Overall – General Rating: 9 / 10
The game has an excellent controller system, so it never gets boring, as you're always moving around, and just having a great time. It's also got some of the best graphics we've seen on the Wii yet, and a great game engine with some pretty nice gameplay. However, it's missing Nazi Zombies, which some consider the best part of the game as a whole, so that doesn't really help it any. Basically, if you have a Wii, and you're looking for a great FPS, buy the game. Although you'll probably find yourself buying it for another system just for the Zombies.
